How To Build An Easy Morning Skincare Routine

Skincare goes way beyond dealing with the occasional breakout or razor burn irritation. An effective skincare routine is best done twice a day in the morning and night before bed and keeps your skin healthy and vibrant.

If you feel like committing to a skincare routine exceeds your bandwidth in terms of time and attention, know that taking good care of your skin doesn’t require an elaborate, time-consuming ritual. Your men’s skincare routine should be quick, easy, and effective. Plus, taking care of your skin feels great, so it can become something you genuinely look forward to doing.

Why do you need a skincare routine? Your skin sheds dead cells and loses water throughout the day while accumulating dirt and oil. Neglected skin can become dry, rough, irritated, and acne-prone and may show signs of premature aging. A daily skincare routine cleanses away impurities, clears clogged pores, removes dead skin cells, and locks in protective moisture.

Your morning and evening skincare routines can look a little different, so let’s start with getting the AM ball rolling. Keep reading if you’re not sure how to build an easy morning skincare routine.

Step 1: Cleanse

Cleansing is the foundation of your men’s skincare routine. It’s a must morning and night, especially after you sweat. Cleansing your skin removes irritants, helps prevent breakouts, and should also keep your skin’s sensitive pH levels balanced. Your skin should feel soft, smooth, and comfortable after cleansing––not dry, irritated, or oily.

We created our Charcoal Cleanser for men to take the guesswork out of the cleansing step. Suitable for all skin types, this detoxifying men’s face wash helps repair damaged skin and keep your face clean, healthy, and youthful. No matter what cleanser you choose, it’s important to use a gentle face wash with safe, premium ingredients that work well without stripping your skin dry.

How To Cleanse Your Face

  • Step 1: Dampen your face with lukewarm water.
  • Step 2: Apply a dime-sized dab of your face wash (with clean fingertips) to your face and massage well.
  • Step 3: Rinse well with lukewarm water and gently pat dry with a soft, clean towel.

Now that your face is squeaky clean, let’s talk about moisture.

Step 2: Moisturize

It’s super important to moisturize your face after cleansing. A good moisturizer helps seal in protective emollients and helps strengthen your skin’s protective barrier. Moisture also helps balance overactive oil glands and can soften and prevent lines and wrinkles.

We formulated our Moisturizing Balm for men to address different skin types while targeting dull, dry skin. Daily use can also help create a more even-looking skin tone and keeps your skin feeling fresh and hydrated.

How To Use Your Moisturizer

  • Step 1: Apply a dab or two of your favorite men’s moisturizer to clean fingertips and massage gently all over your face and neck.
  • Step 2: Use in the morning and before bed after cleansing.

Cleansing and moisturizing are the foundation of your morning men’s skincare routine. If you feel like that’s all you want to deal with, for now, it’s a strong start for better skin. If you want to add more power to your routine, let’s talk about amping up your results with exfoliation.

Why It’s Important To Exfoliate

A good exfoliator helps to powerfully (yet gently) remove pore-clogging dead skin cells from the skin’s surface and provides deeper cleansing action. Regular exfoliation can help clarify your skin while keeping it smooth and even-looking. Also, folks who get cozy with exfoliation typically have younger-looking skin that ages more slowly.

If you want to incorporate an exfoliating rub into your morning skincare routine, gently massage a dab onto cleansed skin, rinse clean, and follow up with your moisturizer. Use two to three times per week for best results.

A Note About Sun Protection

It’s critical to use sunblock every day before heading outside. Apply sunscreen every day of the year (you heard it––that’s 365 days a year) if you want to protect your skin from skin cancer and combat premature aging. Studies show that sun damage is responsible for roughly 80 percent of skin aging, so know that this step is crucial for maintaining healthy skin.

Our UV-Defense Moisturizing Balm works as a moisturizer and natural sunblock. Apply liberally to a cleansed face every morning before heading outside to nourish and protect your skin.

That’s it! To recap your morning skincare routine: cleanse and moisturize in the morning and apply sunblock when heading outside. If you want to add exfoliation to the mix, use our men’s exfoliating rub after your cleanser and before moisturizer two to three times a week for vibrant results. Keep your routine as simple as you need to make it doable for you.

Good skin looks great and feels even better, so it’s worth the time it takes to splash some water on your face and lather on your products. You’ll feel better from day one, and you can see results in as little as 30 days if you stay consistent.
